Lagos4Rent safety guide

Verification helps. Your final checks still matter.

Lagos4Rent is designed to reduce information asymmetry and make suspicious behaviour easier to spot and report. No badge should be treated as permission to skip due diligence.

1. Do not pay from pressure alone

Urgency is not proof. “Pay now or lose it” should never replace inspection, identity checks, written terms and confirmation that the person receiving money is authorized.

2. Match the person to the property

Confirm who the landlord or authorized manager is, and how the agent or current tenant is connected to them. A Tenant Direct post is an introduction, not authority to grant a tenancy.

3. Confirm the full move-in cost

Use Lagos4Rent’s fee breakdown as your starting point. Ask for any additional charge in writing before you commit. Report hidden or suddenly changing fees.

4. Inspect the actual home

Photos and videos can be copied. Confirm the exact property, current condition, access, utilities and any material issue that would affect your decision.

5. Keep the connection on record

Start through the Lagos4Rent connection request so there is a platform record of who contacted whom about which property. Use platform messages for important statements where practical.

6. Report suspicious activity

Listings can be reported for suspected scams, unauthorized advertising, misleading information, duplicate listings, fee disputes and harassment. Reports are visible to Lagos4Rent admins.

What our badges mean

Specific checks, not blanket guarantees.

Verified agent: the agent’s identity/profile has been approved by Lagos4Rent. Property checked: Lagos4Rent has reviewed evidence related to that specific property. Neither badge guarantees future conduct, payment safety or the final tenancy terms.

Payment protection is not yet live.Lagos4Rent currently does not hold rent or deposits in escrow. Do not send money believing the platform is safeguarding the funds.
